Builder boosts portfolio with museum project
A construction firm has strengthened its portfolio with a museum project.
Hobson & Porter has upgraded the National Holocaust Centre and Museum.
Officials say the work – which included two extensions and infrastructure improvements – will “support future visitor numbers and the museum’s educational mission”.
Richard Pittock, site manager at Hull-headquartered Hobson & Porter, said: “From modern waste treatment to sustainable water management, we’ve tackled some technically challenging upgrades that will serve the museum for decades.”
Janet Mills, National Holocaust Centre & Museum interim chief operating officer, added: “These extensions and infrastructure upgrades are vital to our ongoing work.
“With thousands of schoolchildren and other visitors coming to the museum every year, these improvements help us continue teaching the Holocaust with care, sensitivity and impact.”
Founded by the Smith family after their 1991 visit to Yad Vashem, the museum is the UK’s only national institution dedicated exclusively to Holocaust education.
The project has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, the Band Trust and Pears Foundation.
