Skellow scheme lays foundations for growth
A South Yorkshire housing development is set to boost the local economy with new jobs, investment and homes.
Bellway Homes’ Yorkshire division says its new Cromwell Grange development in Skellow will generate around 30 construction jobs while introducing nearly 160 new households to the village, providing a boost for local businesses and the wider economy.
Located off Crabgate Lane, the scheme will feature a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes centred around public open space and a children's play area.
The development will also include wheelchair-accessible bungalows and ground-floor maisonettes, alongside 130 adaptable homes designed to meet residents’ changing needs over time.
As part of the project, Bellway will invest £305,000 in local initiatives, including improvements to bus services and infrastructure, biodiversity projects at Red Bank Farm and environmental enhancements to the River Skell.
Melanie Smith, Bellway Yorkshire’s sales director, said: “Our aim with every development is to build forever homes and what better way to do this than by designing more accessible and adaptable homes.
“With people living longer this flexibility not only provides a great selling point, but also gives peace of mind that your home can be adapted around your needs rather than you having to move because of them.
“Cromwell Grange’s appeal doesn’t stop there.
“It really does have everything – from quality homes to a quality, village location; making it a place that people will be proud to call home.”
Melanie added: “The good news surrounding the launch of a new housing development isn’t restricted to solely house buyers.
“The boost to the local economy is always significant and in the case of Cromwell Grange, we’ll deliver new homes, new jobs, an influx of new spending power into the local and regional community and investment in transport and environmental schemes – all of which are hugely positive for Skellow.”
Cromwell Grange is due to launch in August, with prices to be announced shortly before the development opens to buyers.
