Northumberland park reopens after revamp
A Northumberland visitor attraction has reopened its café and visitor facilities following an extensive refurbishment
The visitor centre at Plessey Woods Country Park, near Bedlington, has welcomed guests back after transforming its café, seating areas and facilities.
The project includes a new commercial kitchen, allowing the team to expand its range of freshly prepared food and drinks, alongside a larger, brighter seating area where visitors can relax after exploring the park.
Accessibility has also been improved with refurbished toilet facilities, including a new indoor accessible toilet.
Outside, the upgraded visitor centre features redesigned seating and an additional outdoor dining area, while the neighbouring play park has also been refurbished.
Councillor John Riddle, cabinet member for environment and rural at Northumberland County Council, said: “Our parks and green spaces are among our most popular attractions and these improvements reflect our commitment to investing in high-quality facilities for the thousands of people who visit Plessey Woods each year.
“Whether you're visiting for a family day out, a woodland walk, cycling, to use the climbing boulders or simply to enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat, we look forward to welcoming visitors to experience everything this beautiful Country Park has to offer.”
Bedlington West County councillor Malcolm Robinson added: “The refurbished visitor centre is fantastic, and alongside the bouldering project I’ve supported, there’s even more reasons now to visit our Park and spend time in this beautiful woodland setting.
“I’m pleased to have this work done just ahead of the school summer holidays which is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year at the park.”
The café is open from 10am to 4pm every day except Monday, with public toilets available seven days a week, helping ensure the country park continues to offer an improved experience for families, walkers and visitors throughout the year.
