SEC strengthens leadership team
Glasgow-based events venue Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Ruth Bailey as an independent non-executive director and Peter Haggarty as director of development and infrastructure.
Ruth brings more than 20 years’ leadership experience in civil engineering and infrastructure, while Peter joins from the University of Glasgow, where he is executive director of estates.
She said: “The SEC is a vital part of Glasgow’s international events landscape, and I am excited to contribute to its next phase of growth.
“I look forward to working with the board and leadership team to support the campus’s development, ensure sustainable investment, and help the SEC continue to deliver world-class experiences for clients, visitors, and the city alike.”
Peter will oversee the SEC’s infrastructure, development, facilities and compliance teams, helping drive the campus’ future growth plans.
Peter added: “The SEC is one of the most renowned events destinations in Europe and in the OVO Hydro and Armadillo, it has two buildings that have transformed the Glasgow skyline.
“I’m joining at what is an exciting time for the SEC and I’m looking forward to working with Dom and the wider team as we plan for its future development.”
Their appointments come as the SEC looks to build on its position as one of Europe’s leading event destinations, supporting long-term investment and enhancing Scotland’s ability to attract major global events and artists.
Chief executive Dominic McKay added: “Both Ruth and Peter join us with outstanding track records in managing complex, large-scale projects.
“Ruth’s breadth of experience across infrastructure, commercial strategy and sustainable development will strengthen our thinking as we shape the SEC’s future and deliver real, lasting benefit for Glasgow and Scotland.
“Peter oversaw one of the biggest educational infrastructure projects in Scotland's history which involved the delivery of four state-of-the-art academic buildings.
“Not only did they transform the University of Glasgow campus, but they have also had a transformational impact on the surrounding neighbourhoods.”
SEC chair Morag McNeill added: “Ruth’s appointment reflects our commitment to strengthening the Board with the right expertise to support the SEC's long-term ambitions.
“Her experience across major infrastructure and commercial leadership will be invaluable in providing robust oversight as we guide the campus through its next phase of investment.”
