Metrocentre expands indie line-up at The Crescent
A North East shopping centre is set to expand its independent retail offering with three more brands set to join a newly launched destination for local businesses.
Metrocentre has announced bespoke jewellery retailer Thatype, barber Webster & Carr and trading card specialist Aqua TCG as the latest occupiers of The Crescent, its new 10,000sq ft hub for independent retailers in the Upper Green Mall.
The announcement follows the official opening of The Crescent, which welcomed artisan coffee shop Café Filto as its first trading business over the weekend.
Filto, a fast-growing café chain, serves speciality drinks and light bites from a central location within the new space.
Thatype will relocate from its Newcastle city centre premises, bringing its range of handcrafted rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings to the centre.
Award-winning barber Webster & Carr will open its second location, building on the success of its Gosforth shop with a new store offering haircuts, grooming services and fragrances.
And Aqua TCG will also establish its first permanent retail outlet, following its success at trading card events across the North East and beyond.
Demand for units at The Crescent remains strong, with only a handful of the ten retail spaces still available and further independent brands expected to be announced soon.
Noah Knapton, asset manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset managers of Metrocentre, said: “As these latest signings prove, the North East can lay claim to a wealth of small businesses, start-ups and scale-ups.
“What better platform to showcase their creativity and to support their further growth than The Crescent – our new, dedicated space for independent and emerging brands.
“For the retailers themselves, it offers a prime location with high footfall and unrivalled visibility in the region.
“For our customers, it delivers an even richer mix of stores, services and experiences, with more great additions still to be announced.”
