New workshops back Tees Valley businesses

A Tees Valley business support programme is launching a series of fully funded workshops to help firms start, grow and access new opportunities.

Tees Valley Combined Authority has unveiled the new initiative alongside a Business Support and Funding Directory, creating a one-stop resource for businesses seeking advice, funding and development opportunities.

Workshops will be held across the region, offering practical support to entrepreneurs and established businesses looking to strengthen their operations, secure investment and explore new markets.

Part of the Combined Authority’s interim business support offer, the initiative will provide help while a more comprehensive, joined-up system is developed for the region.

Designed as a one-stop resource, the new directory makes it easier for businesses to identify the most relevant support based on their size, sector and stage of growth.

Workshop topics include starting a business, strategic growth planning, accessing finance, digital marketing, innovation and opportunities in emerging sectors such as retrofit and the green economy.

Delivered in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, the sessions are funded through the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and aim to provide straightforward, practical guidance without unnecessary jargon.

The programme is intended to equip participants with clear next steps, useful tools and valuable connections, helping businesses overcome challenges, develop new skills and unlock growth opportunities.

Together, the workshops and online directory are designed to provide a simpler route to business support while strengthening the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem and helping firms build long-term resilience.

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “We’ve got the ambition, the talent and the ideas here in our region – and these sessions are about giving people the support to turn those ideas into successful businesses.

“Our new business support offer is going to make it easier for our firms to access the backing they need.

“Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take the next step, we’re making sure help is there to build confidence, create jobs and grow our local economy.

“Backing businesses like this is how we keep driving the region forward.”
