Property developer seals Sheffield site deal
A property developer has moved a step closer to delivering a new Sheffield city centre neighbourhood after acquiring a key site.
Capital&Centric has completed the purchase of Fitzwilliam in Mesters’ Village, where it will deliver 192 design-led rental homes.
Located between Sheffield city centre and Kelham Island, the development will feature a mix of apartments alongside communal lounges, co-working spaces, a landscaped courtyard and a rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
Plans also include space for an independent café-bar at ground level, helping to create a vibrant community hub for residents and visitors.
Fitzwilliam forms part of Capital&Centric’s wider regeneration of Mesters’ Village, with proposals to improve walking routes by opening up streets linking the development to the neighbouring Eyewitness scheme.
Mark Edwards, development director at Capital&Centric, said: “Fitzwilliam is another big milestone in shaping a new neighbourhood for Sheffield.
“Completing on the land means we can now push ahead with bringing forward 192 new homes alongside public spaces for people to socialise.
“But it’s not just about the buildings; we’re opening up routes through the area, improving connections and creating a neighbourhood that feels social, walkable and full of energy.
“Sheffield’s got an incredible independent spirit and that’s exactly what we want Fitzwilliam to build on.”
The deal marks the latest chapter in Capital&Centric’s ongoing investment in Sheffield, following the regeneration of the former Cutlery Works into Eyewitness.
Further details on construction timelines and future commercial occupiers are expected as the project progresses.
