Work begins on 'genuinely inclusive' 168-home scheme
A housing development is bringing dozens of affordable homes to Saffron Walden as construction continues on a new mixed-tenure neighbourhood.
Chase New Homes has begun work on 67 affordable homes at Saffron Park, delivered in partnership with housing association B3 Living.
The properties form part of a 168-home development that will also include 101 homes for private sale.
The affordable housing will comprise 38 apartments and 29 houses, with 70 per cent available through affordable rent and the remaining 30 per cent offered via shared ownership.
Construction is progressing across the 13-acre site, with foundations completed for more than half of the development.
Work is also advancing on the first 24 homes, with above-ground brickwork now underway.
Designed with sustainability in mind, every home will feature energy-efficient technologies, while the development will include extensive green space, biodiversity features and landscaped public areas.
Paul Bennett, sales and marketing director at Chase New Homes, said: “We are incredibly proud of the progress being made at Saffron Park.
“This development represents so much more than new homes – it is an opportunity to deliver something genuinely inclusive for Saffron Walden: high-quality private homes alongside a meaningful affordable housing offer, provided by a first-class partner in B3 Living.
“With over half of our foundations now complete and above-ground work beginning imminently, we look forward to welcoming our first residents in 2027.”
