Approval secured for 243-home Wynyard scheme
A housebuilder has secured planning permission for a Teesside housing development that will bring hundreds of new homes to the region.
Stonebridge Homes has received approval for a multi-million-pound housing scheme at Wynyard Park, with planning consultancy Hedley Planning supporting the application.
The development will deliver 243 three, four and five-bedroom homes on a 15-hectare site, expanding the existing community.
The project is expected to support almost 200 jobs each year during construction while generating wider economic benefits, with new residents forecast to spend around £800,000 annually in local shops and businesses.
More than 120 homes will be built with enhanced accessibility, while every property will include roof-mounted solar panels and electric vehicle charging facilities to improve sustainability.
The scheme also includes plans to retain and enhance existing woodland through additional tree and shrub planting, helping to improve biodiversity and integrate the development into the surrounding landscape.
Hedley Planning associate director Alex Franklin, who secured approval from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Planning Committee for the scheme, said: “This is great news for a much-needed development that complies with planning policies and delivers high quality housing on land allocated for residential development.
“Potential new homeowners will be looking forward to moving into smart, energy saving housing in a landscaped environment with good access to local services and amenities, where they can build a community and create a sense of place.”
Emma Swannick, design and planning director at Stonebridge Homes, added: “We’ve aimed to design an attractive development that meets the needs of local people, creating a mix of property types and sizes to provide options for home-owners with varying needs and now look forward to the scheme coming to fruition.”
