North East firms back Newcastle Pride
A host of North East businesses are backing this summer’s Newcastle Pride festival, reinforcing their commitment to diversity, inclusion and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Curious Arts has unveiled a new wave of partners that will sponsor festival zones and community initiatives when the event returns on July 25.
Delivered in partnership with NE1 and Newcastle City Council, this year’s festival will carry the theme ‘City of Hope, Streets of Joy’.
Newcastle College has been named market village partner, supporting a space across Old Eldon Square, Grainger Street and Grey Street where community groups and organisations will come together to celebrate and champion the LGBTQIA+ community.
Tyger Comms will sponsor the Monument Stage, showcasing a programme of performances from local and queer artists, while Maldron Hotel Newcastle has been confirmed as the festival’s official hotel partner, welcoming visitors travelling to the city for the celebrations.
UNISON has joined as outreach and community partner, leading engagement activities throughout the weekend, while Pride Radio returns as media partner, broadcasting live from the festival.
Meanwhile, Printed.com will once again provide the official Pride guide, banners and event signage from its Cramlington facility.
They join a growing list of partners including Arriva, Sky, Eldon Square and Newcastle Cathedral, all of which will host activities and events celebrating inclusivity, visibility and self-expression.
Phil Douglas, chief executive of Curious Arts, said: “We’re incredibly excited to announce our full line up of partners for next month’s Newcastle Pride.
“At a time where we desperately need less division and more unity, it’s fantastic to see so many North East brands and businesses showing their support for Pride and helping us make it an unforgettable celebration.
“We’re set to have a packed schedule of free events for attendees of all ages in addition to our ticketed Pride Arena, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy across the city.”
Earlier this year, Nexus was announced as host partner, alongside Newcastle International Airport as accessibilitypPartner, with British Airways Flying Proud and Stagecoach also supporting the festival.
The expanding partner line-up reflects continued backing from organisations across the North East, with businesses, public bodies and community groups coming together to support Newcastle Pride and reinforce the city’s reputation as an inclusive destination for residents and visitors alike.
