Surveyor builds book with £4 million aparthotel deal
A building surveyor and project management firm has strengthened its order book with £4 million work.
Silverstone Building Consultancy is converting an empty York retail base into an aparthotel.
The project is set to create 23 apartments across three floors of a former New Look store.
Spanning York’s 4-6 Parliament Street, bosses say the venture – delivered for Mansley Serviced Apartments – will bring together three separate 19th century buildings.
The development is earmarked for completion early next year.
Josh Brown, associate director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, which has appointed fellow Leeds-based firm Artium Construction as main contractor on the project, said: “We’re looking forward to bringing a vacant property in a prime location back into use.
“There will be challenges due to the property being in a conservation area and in a spot that has constricted access, but we’re excited to be seeing the transformation begin.”
Sir Richard Rowley, chair at Mansley Group, whose portfolio includes properties in London, Cheltenham, Edinburgh and Inverness, added: “We were delighted to find such a strong location in the historic and beautiful city of York to expand our portfolio.
“We are equally excited at the prospect of being able to welcome guests in early 2027.”
Silverstone Building Consultancy has further offices in Newcastle and London.
