Mr Whippy confirms senior hires

Food brand Mr Whippy has announced a series of senior appointments as it prepares to open its new £15 million manufacturing facility in Sheffield.

Baking industry specialist Jacqui Jackson has joined as head of new product development, bringing experience from leading bakery businesses where she worked on products including Jaffa mini rolls, Mars cake bars and Thorntons caramel shortcakes.

She will lead product innovation as the company expands its bakery offering.

The senior leadership team also includes Joe Sealey, as chief revenue officer; Cheryl Fletcher, as head of group operations; Tom Hunt, as finance director; Paul Macnish, as site general manager; Bilal Ahmad, as head of technical; Lucy Brooke, as head of engineering; and Steven Page, as head of IT, alongside sales team members Phil Kitchen and Kit Rogan.

The appointments support the launch of Mr Whippy’s new doughnut range and the opening of its Sheffield manufacturing base, which is expected to produce more than 104 million products a year.

The facility will eventually create more than 50 jobs and enable manufacturing, packing and distribution under one roof.

Chief executive Michael Corrado Jackson, who has driven the entire factory build from concept to production-ready within a 12-month period, said: “We are building a team of vital, elite staff who will head up not just another production site, but a symbol of what happens when innovation, category expansion, persistence and skills come together.

“Modernised production can unlock growth in a cost-conscious, quality-driven retail market.

“The facility will disrupt the market and set new standards for quality.

“Investment in automation and layout, to sourcing world class skills and equipment represent key components of our strategy to offer quality, maintain product consistency and operational efficiency.

“The products will be fully launched in September with a number of high-profile retailers already signed up.”
