Fulcrum names managing director of operating divisions
Sheffield-based infrastructure and utility services provider Fulcrum Group has promoted Tom Overfield to managing director of the operating divisions as the business continues to strengthen collaboration across its operations.
Tom joined Fulcrum in 2020 and will now oversee the strategic direction and operational alignment of the group's multi-utility, high voltage and infrastructure divisions.
In his new role, he will focus on further integrating the business's capabilities to deliver an end-to-end service for customers across infrastructure and utility projects.
A chartered health and safety professional, Tom has held a number of senior operational roles since joining the business, progressing from area contracts manager to head of operations and operations director.
Before joining Fulcrum, he built extensive experience across the utilities and energy sector, working on major projects including Hinkley Point nuclear power station and the Severn Wye cable tunnel project.
Tom said: “This role provides an opportunity to further align the strengths and expertise that already exist across the Group to create an even more joined-up experience for our customers.
“Around 90 per cent of our operational delivery workforce is employed directly by the Group, which is a major strength and a real differentiator within the sector.
“It gives us greater control, consistency and accountability across project delivery while allowing us to provide customers with a true end-to-end service.
“Having started my own career as an apprentice at 16, I understand first-hand the importance of investing in people, developing future talent and creating long-term career pathways within the industry.
“That will remain an important part of our long-term growth strategy as the business continues to evolve.”
Tom’s appointment forms part of Fulcrum Group’s wider growth strategy to strengthen collaboration across its businesses, enhance customer service and support expansion across sectors including energy infrastructure, renewables, battery storage, data centres, industrial and commercial developments, and residential projects.
Lindsay Austin, chief executive of Fulcrum Group, added: “Tom’s appointment reflects both his leadership credentials and the impact he has already made across the Group.
“He brings extensive operational and sector experience alongside a genuine passion for delivering quality projects, strong customer relationships and continuous improvement across the business.
“At Fulcrum Group, we are committed to supporting professional development, creating opportunities for progression and recognising talented people who can help drive the business forward.
“Tom’s own career journey is a strong example of that approach in action, and he is exceptionally well placed to help lead the next phase of the Group’s growth.”
