NHSA expands leadership team
The Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) has strengthened its team with a series of appointments and promotions, supporting the organisation’s continued growth and expanding influence across the North of England.
Michael Mordey has joined the organisation as senior public affairs manager, bringing almost 20 years’ experience in local and regional government.
Most recently leader of Sunderland City Council, he has led major investment partnerships and developed community-focused public policy, working closely with MPs, combined authority mayors and regional partners.
Michael will support the NHSA’s public affairs activity as it continues to champion health research, innovation and collaboration across the North.
Alongside Michael’s appointment, Rosina Read has been appointed permanently as communications and public affairs officer; Ruth Boston has joined the executive team as lead for external affairs; Vanessa Nolan has been promoted to operations manager; and Charlotte Thompson has become senior communications and events manager.
The appointments reflect the NHSA’s continued investment in its team as the organisation grows its alliance membership and strengthens its role in shaping health policy and innovation across the region.
Hannah Davies, chief executive of the NHSA, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael to the NHSA, his political background and deep knowledge of national and local government will be invaluable as we continue to champion the North’s health and life sciences strengths at a national level.
“Rosina has already made a significant contribution to our communications and public affairs work over the past year, bringing insight, energy and a strong understanding of policy engagement to the team.
“Together, these appointments will further bolster our public affairs capacity, helping to ensure the North’s research excellence, innovation and evidence-led outputs reach the policy space and have real impact and influence with policymakers.
“We are also thrilled to recognise Ruth, Charlotte and Vanessa in their new roles as we continue to strengthen our team and expand our public affairs, communications and operational capacity.”
