BT makes a splash with Scottish Water partnership
Telecoms firm BT has landed a multi-million-pound water sector deal.
The operator is set to provide connectivity and security services to Scottish Water.
Officials say the tie-up will help the utilities firm “improve visibility across its network, respond more quickly to issues and strengthen the resilience of services”.
Under the terms of the deal, they add BT will manage about 7000 connections across broadband, multiprotocol label switching, satellite and internet services, alongside a large-scale operational technology network.
The agreement forms part of a wider £130 million investment into Scottish Water, which oversees supplies to about 2.6 million households and 150,000 business properties.
Ishbell MacPhail, head of BT Business - Scotland, said: “By bringing together our nationwide network, security expertise and local Scottish teams, we’ll help make the services people rely on every day more resilient, responsive and ready for the future.”
Chris Toop, Scottish Water director of digital and innovation, added: “This partnership is an important step in our digital journey.
“Together, we’ll deliver more resilient, secure and efficient digital services that enable us to better serve customers, support colleagues and meet future challenges.”
