Housebuilder completes 88-apartment city sale

A housebuilder has completed a multi-million-pound capital city development sale.

Bellway has offloaded 88 apartments at Barking Riverside to Flint Housing.

Bosses say the move “will make more affordable homes available to people in Barking and Dagenham”.

Under the terms of the deal, Flint Housing has bought one, two and three-bed homes across two apartment blocks at the Horizons at Fielders Quarter scheme.

Officials say the properties will be made available for social rent to households on Barking and Dagenham London Borough Council’s waiting list.

Residents are expected to begin moving into the development early next year.

David Burns, Bellway Barking project team managing director, said: “This agreement will make a significant contribution towards the provision of affordable homes at Barking Riverside and help accelerate the delivery of new housing.”

Eugene Schreider, chief executive at Flint Housing, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Bellway, the Greater London Authority and Barking Riverside to increase delivery of additional social rented accommodation.”

Newcastle-headquartered Bellway is building more than 2000 homes at Fielders Quarter as part of the wider redevelopment of the former Barking Power Station site.
