Whitecroft Lighting appoints IT director
Greater Manchester-based commercial lighting manufacturer Whitecroft Lighting has appointed Steve Wilson as IT director.
Steve joins the business with more than 20 years’ experience leading technology and transformation programmes across manufacturing and multi-site organisations.
Based at the company’s Ashton-under-Lyne headquarters, he will oversee Whitecroft Lighting’s IT strategy while working with its parent company, the Fagerhult Group, to support digital innovation across Europe.
In his new role, Steve will lead the adoption of artificial intelligence, strengthen cybersecurity and improve data sharing to support the company's long-term growth ambitions.
He said: “Joining Whitecroft Lighting at this stage of its growth journey is a fantastic opportunity.
“The business has ambitious plans, a strong heritage and a clear commitment to innovation, and I'm looking forward to helping shape the next phase of its digital transformation.
"There is huge potential to harness AI across Whitecroft Lighting and advanced manufacturing, and one of my first priorities will be to align AI with the company’s business goals, whether that’s enhancing productivity, streamlining processes or supporting better decision-making, while maintaining the highest standards of cyber security and governance.
“I believe IT should be represented at board level in any modern organisation, so the opportunity to join Whitecroft's senior leadership team and work more closely with colleagues across the wider Fagerhult Group was a major attraction.
“By taking a more joined-up approach, we can share best practice across the group and unlock new opportunities for innovation.”
Steve’s appointment comes as Whitecroft Lighting and the Fagerhult Group continue to invest in digital capabilities to meet growing demand for connected lighting solutions.
David Serif, managing director of Whitecroft Lighting, added: “Whitcroft Lighting and the Fagerhult Group are increasingly a technology and data-led business, so it’s essential that IT helps shape their strategic direction.
“AI is set to have a huge impact on not only how we operate and manufacture as a business, but also the capabilities of increasingly intelligent lighting systems.
“In Steve, Whitecroft Lighting has a highly respected technology leader, with a strong track record of driving transformation in complex organisations.
“His expertise, strategic vision and practical approach to innovation make him a valuable addition to both Whitecroft Lighting and the wider Fagerhult Group.”
