Accountancy firm expands with 'milestone' takeover
An accountancy and business advisory firm has expanded with a takeover.
Burgess Hodgson has bought Spain Brothers.
Bosses say the move marks “another important milestone” in Kent-based Burgess Hodgson’s growth, adding it has created “an even broader advisory business”.
Under the terms of the deal, Spain Brothers’ team will switch to Burgess Hodgson’s Canterbury offices, with clients continuing to receive support from existing advisers.
Founded almost 150 years ago, Spain Brothers works with individuals and owner-managed businesses across accountancy, tax, audit and business advice.
The deal follows Burgess Hodgson’s partnership with Abry Partners, and was supported by law firm Hill Dickinson’s Shantanu Sinha and Elizabeth Roberts.
Richard Stewart, Burgess Hodgson chief executive, said: “Spain Brothers has served the Kent business community for generations.
“It has an outstanding reputation and shares our belief that great client relationships are built on trust, expertise and personal service.”
Paul Flood, Spain Brothers’ partner, added: “Joining Burgess Hodgson represents an exciting next chapter for our business.
“Our clients will continue to receive the same personal service from the same team, while benefiting from access to significantly broader technical expertise and specialist advisory services.”
