Padel chain courts UK growth after brand switch
A padel chain plans to serve up national expansion following a rebrand.
Padel Project has switched to Atmos Padel.
Bosses say the move will support a blueprint to grow across the UK – with a new £350,000 Chesterfield site set to open in August.
The four-court venture will complement existing Darlington, South Shields, Lytham, Potters Bar and Worthing bases.
And officials say the Derbyshire hub – allied to the company’s name change, which they say reflects its outdoor club model – will take it closer to becoming a “nationally-recognised brand (and) one of the most established names in UK padel”.
Ben Lacey, chief executive at the Arbor Ventures-backed business, said: “Padel Project served us brilliantly during our start-up phase, helping us establish clubs and build communities.
“But padel is no longer an emerging sport, and we are no longer an emerging business.
“The growth we’ve witnessed over the last few years has been remarkable, and there remains a huge shortage of courts across the UK.”
The firm’s growth plans will be overseen by a new senior management team that includes head of padel operations Adam Holman; finance and operations manager Emma Gibson; head of marketing Tom O’Brien; and head of property Malcolm Kilpatrick.
Malcolm added: “Padel's popularity is due to the fact that anyone can play, and our courts are filled daily by people of all ages and from every walk of life.
“Our name is based on our motto – atmosphere makes the game – and that sense of community within the sport is second-to-none.
“There isn’t a sport like it, which is reflected in that feverish demand for more clubs, and we hope to help satisfy that by scaling as a business nationally.”
