Holiday park operator eyes growth with site expansion
A holiday park operator is eyeing growth with a site expansion.
Thorpe Farm Centre has broken ground on an accommodation extension.
Bosses say the work will strengthen the County Durham site’s lodge and static caravan offer.
They add the venture – which includes water and drainage upgrades alongside gas and electricity installation on new plots – will pave the way for rentable holiday pods across future years.
Harvey Barkes, of Thorpe Farm Centre, which is based off the A66 near Barnard Castle, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming more people.
“My parents started with five touring caravan pitches in 2008.
“Since then, we’ve built a popular destination with facilities including a restaurant, farm shop and woodland walks, as well as a soft play and playground.
“Visitors to static caravans generally travel short distances from home.
“However, in the coming years, we’ll be growing the areas for touring caravans, as well as introducing holiday pods.
“We’re keen to help bring more holidaymakers to the region and increase tourism revenue across the surrounding area.”
