Book wholesaler plans fresh chapter with move

A book wholesaler says it is poised to turn the page on growth plans following a base expansion.

Bestsellers Direct has agreed a 30,277sq ft Sheffield hub deal.

The firm says the Grange Mill Lane site will “support the next stage of its journey by providing room to continue growing”.

It adds the building – known as Grange 34 and secured on a ten-year lease – replaces an existing Steel City base and will support the storage, sale and distribution of books to customers across the UK and overseas.

Founded by managing director Ian White, the business boasts more than 40 years of trading experience and is known for supplying thousands of titles spanning genres including fiction and children’s stories.

It also previously bought military and transport title retailer Bookmark.

Ian said: “We've always believed in investing for the future.

“As our business has grown, we’ve reached the point where we needed larger premises that would allow us to expand our warehousing and distribution capacity, improve operational efficiency and continue providing the high levels of service our customers expect.

“Remaining in Sheffield was important to us.”

Helen Gordon, property director at commercial property firm Network Space, which oversees Grange 34, added: “Seeing such a well-established local business choose the estate for its next phase of growth is a strong endorsement of the accommodation and location.”
