Gym operator raises the bar with third site
A North East gym operator is flexing its expansion plans after securing six-figure investment to support the launch of a third site.
Newcastle-based PhysiquePro has received funding from the North East Elevate Fund, managed by FW Capital, to help launch a new gym in Ponteland.
Founded by Ryan Bolton, who was recently named as a finalist in the Rising Star category at the North East Business Awards, the boutique fitness business opened its first site at Bakers Yard in Gosforth in August 2024 before expanding to Great Park in December 2025.
Ryan says the investment will help fund the fit-out and launch of the new facility.
He said: “We’re excited to bring the PhysiquePro gym to the affluent area of Ponteland with the official opening set for August 17.
“It’s been designed for those who demand the best in every aspect of their lives, offering an unparalleled luxury fitness experience.
“We’re especially excited to debut our exclusive, four-person group classes as part of a packed schedule of 40 weekly workouts.
“A massive thank you to FW Capital whose instrumental support has enabled us to execute a flawless fit-out and gear up for an unforgettable launch.”
The North East Elevate Fund forms part of North East mayor Kim McGuinness’ £100 million regional investment framework, administered by The North East Fund.
It aims to improve access to finance for start-ups, scale-ups and growing businesses across the region.
Matt Elliott, senior investment executive at FW Capital, added: “PhysiquePro has successfully created a premium boutique gym experience and it’s fantastic to work with them as they embark on this exciting next chapter.
“The boutique fitness sector is evolving rapidly, and PhysiquePro stands out for its exceptional brand loyalty, premium offering, and clear vision.
“Helping ambitious local businesses to grow is exactly what the fund was designed for.”
