Ryanair joy as passenger numbers hit all-time high

Budget carrier Ryanair’s monthly passenger numbers reached an all-time high of more than 22 million in July.

The Dublin-based airline said it carried 22.2 million passengers last month.

The figure represented a seven per cent increase on July 2025.

It carried 213.2 million passengers in the 12 months to the end of July, which was a five per cent rise year-on-year.

Ryanair recently revealed quarterly profits slumped by more than a third as the price of jet fuel doubled because of the Iran war.

The carrier reported a 34 per cent drop in profits after tax to £457 million for the three months to the end of June.

It said earnings were affected by surging jet fuel prices for the 20 per cent of its fuel needs that was not locked in, as well as a six per cent drop in average fares to boost demand.
