Surveying firm expands with estate agency launch

A County Durham property consultancy is broadening its services with the launch of a dedicated estate agency.

Barnard Castle-based Jonathan Wallis will officially launch its new residential sales and lettings agency in September, adding estate agency services to its existing surveying and rural property offering.

The new venture will operate from the firm’s offices at The Bank in Barnard Castle, where it has built a reputation for providing independent surveying and property advice across Teesdale and the surrounding area.

The expansion follows growing demand from existing clients, many of whom had approached the business for support with buying, selling and letting residential properties.

As part of the launch, Jonathan Wallis is recruiting a sales and lettings negotiator to support the growing business and guide clients through the sales and lettings process.

Chartered surveyor Victoria Hartley, who joined the firm three years ago and has a background in residential estate agency, has helped lead the development of the new service alongside colleague Joanna Herbert, who brings almost a decade of experience in the residential property sector.

The estate agency will focus on delivering a traditional, face-to-face service, offering professional advice and personal support throughout every stage of a property transaction.

Victoria said: “Our surveying background gives us the knowledge and experience to advise clients on every type of property, whether it’s a two-bedroom terraced house in the centre of town or a substantial rural estate.

“That wider expertise means we can help clients navigate more complex issues and provide informed advice throughout the letting or buying and selling process.”

Joanna added: “Barnard Castle is a fantastic property market because it’s incredibly varied. 

“We have everything from new-build developments and Victorian terraces to listed cottages, converted mills and commercial farms. 

“There’s genuinely something for everyone, and it’s a wonderful area for people who want to enjoy rural life while remaining well connected to larger towns and cities.”

Alongside the new agency, Jonathan Wallis will continue providing its established surveying and rural property services from its Barnard Castle office.

The firm says it has deliberately chosen a September launch to ensure its branding, systems and customer service are fully established before welcoming its first estate agency clients.
