New fitness venture helps boost town's regeneration

A new fitness and wellbeing studio is set to open in Bedlington as regeneration of the town centre continues.

Reset Wellness is set to open on Front Street next month after agreeing a deal with Advance Northumberland, bringing a new health and wellbeing destination to the town centre.

The studio will feature a contrast therapy suite, specialist fitness and movement studios, and a healthy refuel bar, offering services designed to support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Founded by Northumberland natives Kyle Cameron and Macaulay Gillesphey, the business aims to make modern recovery and wellness services more accessible while contributing to the continued transformation of Bedlington town centre.

The pair bring extensive experience from professional football to the venture.

Kyle has played for clubs including Newcastle United, Torquay United, Notts County, Bromley and Newport County, while Macaulay’s career has included spells at Newcastle United, Carlisle United, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton Athletic and Bradford City.

Drawing on their backgrounds in elite sport, the founders have developed a concept focused on recovery, movement and long-term wellbeing, with facilities designed to appeal to a broad range of users rather than professional athletes alone.

“We’re excited to bring modern facilities, expert guidance, and a welcoming environment to Bedlington, helping residents take positive steps toward healthier, happier lives.

Steven Harrison, chief executive of Advance Northumberland, added: “We are delighted to welcome Reset Wellness to the newly redeveloped Front Street in Bedlington. 

“This is an exciting time for the town; this unique offer will provide a real boost for the local community. 

“Reset Wellness becomes the fourth business to be announced in the scheme, with two retail units remaining available to let.   

“The redevelopment continues to attract new investment and increase footfall in the town centre supporting Bedlington’s wider regeneration.”   

The opening marks another milestone in Advance Northumberland’s regeneration plans for Bedlington, following recent announcements that B&M and Starbucks will also open at the development.

Officials say the arrival of Reset Wellness will attract visitors from across Northumberland, increasing footfall and supporting the town’s growing retail and leisure offer.

It also forms part of wider efforts to diversify the town centre, creating new destinations that encourage people to visit, spend time in the area and support the local economy.

Christine Taylor, county councillor for Bedlington Central, added: “This is great news for our town centre development.

County councillor Richard Wearmouth, cabinet member for regeneration with Northumberland County Council, added: “Improvements to Bedlington town centre are continuing at pace as more businesses are setting up and thriving in the town. 

“Having a good range of businesses is key to boost the economies of our town centres and I’m really pleased to see Reset Wellness coming to Bedlington.
