Vertu appoints Durham BMW chief
Motor retailer Vertu has appointed John Curry as head of business at its BMW dealership in Durham.
John joins the dealership after serving as general manager at Vertu Hyundai Peterlee, where he led the site to become Hyundai's top-performing UK retail dealership in 2021.
He was also named General Manager of the Year across Vertu’s Hyundai division at the group’s 2025 management awards.
In his new role, John will oversee the day-to-day operations of Vertu BMW Durham, reporting to BMW franchise director Andy Verrall.
John said: “I’m delighted to take up the role of Head of Business at Vertu BMW Durham, and to renew my relationship with the brand.
“I’m hugely proud of the success that the team has achieved at Hyundai Peterlee in recent years, and look forward to building on that success with the team in Durham in the future.”
Vertu acquired its Durham BMW dealership in 2020 and said John’s appointment reflects its continued focus on delivering strong operational performance and customer service across its retail network.
Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu, added: “John has done a fantastic job in charge of Hyundai Peterlee, most notably in helping the dealership to be named as the UK’s best-performing Hyundai retailer.
“With his extensive knowledge and experience of the brand from earlier in his career, John is the perfect person to lead the team at BMW Durham, and I have no doubt he will build on the dealership’s strong performance and help to drive it forward.”
