Shepshed Dynamo appoints new chairman
Shepshed Dynamo Football Club has appointed Luke Clayton as chairman as the club enters a new chapter ahead of the new season.
Luke, executive chairman of Derby-based Charterhouse Holdings, succeeds Mick Sloan, who has served as chairman since 2012 and will remain involved with the club in a voluntary operational role.
The appointment also renews the Clayton family’s long-standing association with Shepshed Dynamo, with Luke’s father Maurice having supported the club during the 1970s and 1980s.
Luke said: “It’s an exciting time for everyone at the Shepshed Dyanmo.
“We want to help build an even stronger, self-sustaining pillar of the community.
“Charterhouse Holdings and Shepshed Dynamo both share deep local roots.
“By aligning the two, we aim to bring fresh energy, boost local funding, and make this club a true centre of gravity for the 15,000 people of Shepshed.
“The club has an incredible history and heritage, and this isn’t about coming in and making grand promises.
“It’s about helping create opportunities, supporting volunteers, attracting investment and ensuring the club continues to thrive for generations to come.”
Alongside Luke’s appointment, Charterhouse Holdings will become the club’s main shirt sponsor for the forthcoming season, supporting plans to strengthen community engagement and grow attendances at the Dovecote Stadium.
Mick added: “After 14 years as chairman, I believe it’s the right time to stand aside and let someone else take the reins.
“As a collective, we’ve got ourselves in a position to challenge for the next level and by making the change I think we can achieve that.
“Luke’s appointment is historic for the club and renews our heritage relationship and operational ties with Charterhouse.
“We all have the same ambitions to move the club forward and, with Charterhouse now as main shirt sponsor as well, we’re excited to see what the new season brings.
“I’d like to thank all the volunteers who have worked alongside me, my wife for being there through the good times and the bad, and for everyone who’s supported me in my time as chairman.”
