Builder secures 'landmark' city residential project

A construction and development firm has built its order book with a capital city project.

Higgins Partnerships is set to oversee a 182-council home West London venture.

Bosses say the development will transform Brentford’s Charlton House and Albany House estate, replacing 92 “ageing” properties with social rent homes.

They add a third of the properties will be “larger family-sized” units, revealing the scheme will also feature ground-floor commercial space and more than 2,500sq metres of green areas.

Construction is expected to start in the autumn.

Declan Higgins, chief executive of Essex-based Higgins Partnerships’ parent firm Higgins Group, said: “We are delighted to be appointed to deliver this landmark regeneration scheme.

“Providing 182 low-carbon council homes, the development will make a lasting difference to residents’ lives, while supporting the council’s ambition to create sustainable, thriving communities.”

He added Higgins Partnerships will also provide work experience placements, business advice to voluntary, community and social enterprises, and more than 750 hours of volunteering to local projects as part of the development.

Councillor Tom Bruce, deputy leader of Hounslow Council and cabinet member for regeneration and economic development, said: “It is our ambition to support residents to live in good quality, healthy and affordable homes that are safe and secure.

“The new neighbourhood will feature energy-efficient homes for social rent, larger family homes, improved green space and space for local businesses.”
