Brewery taps into growth with £200,000 backing

A Reading-based craft brewery is raising a glass to expansion after securing £200,000 to increase production capacity and create new jobs.

Double-Barrelled Brewery has secured a Thames Valley Berkshire expansion loan from The FSE Group to support investment in new equipment alongside increased sales and marketing activity.

Founded in 2018 by husband-and-wife team Luci and Mike Clayton-Jones, Double-Barrelled has grown from a small brewing operation into an established brewery and taproom.

The company produces a range of craft beers spanning pale ales, lagers and IPAs alongside limited-edition seasonal releases, with products sold through its Reading taproom, online store, wholesale partners and major retailers across the UK.

Its brewery also hosts events, tours and tastings as the business looks to capitalise on growing demand for experience-led venues alongside distinctive independent beer brands.

Luci and Mike say the funding will help the business meet growing demand for its beers while expanding its customer base and creating additional employment opportunities.

Luci said: “We have invested everything into building Double-Barrelled over the past eight years and are incredibly proud of how far the business has come.

“From brewing our first beers at home to supplying customers across the UK, we've always focused on creating great beer and building a community around the brand.”

Mike added: “This funding gives us the opportunity to invest in the people, equipment and marketing needed to take the next step.

“We see significant opportunities to grow our retail and wholesale presence, with this funding both unlocking new national listings and supporting existing ones, and we look forward to working with FSE as we continue this journey.”
