Artech Lighting welcomes new apprentice

Durham lighting manufacturer Artech Lighting has welcomed Josh Smith as estimating apprentice as it invests in developing the next generation of talent amid growing client demand.

Josh joins the business after completing diplomas in IT and E-Sports at New College Durham and is now studying towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification.

He becomes Artech's sixth apprentice in five years.

In his new role, Josh will work alongside the design and estimating teams, developing experience across different areas of the business and putting his knowledge of IT systems into practice.

He hopes to progress into a career as a qualified lighting designer after completing his apprenticeship in 2027.

Josh said: “I’m really excited to be joining the Artech team and start my apprenticeship, with the opportunity of learning on the job and experiencing first-hand how the business operates.

“I’m looking forward to a successful future with Artech – everyone’s been so welcoming and it’s a really supportive environment to learn and work in.” 

Josh’s appointment forms part of Artech Lighting’s continued investment in developing future talent, strengthening its skills pipeline as the Durham manufacturer responds to growing client demand.
