Developer plans 50-job retail and nursery site

Plans have been submitted for a 50-job retail and nursery venture.

Warwickshire Property & Development Group hopes to create a community hub at Nuneaton’s Milby Meadows.

Bosses say the endeavour would feature four shops – including a convenience store – a children’s day nursery and a 57-space car park with eight electric vehicle charging points.

They say the scheme would add to a wider development expected to include about 1700 two, three and four-bed private sale, private rent and affordable properties.

Delivered through Develop Warwickshire – a joint venture between Warwickshire Property & Development Group, Warwickshire County Council and Vistry Group – officials add the site will also include a primary school, play areas, green spaces, walking routes and a neighbouring care home.

Chloe Britton, senior development manager at Warwickshire Property & Development Group, said: “We’re pleased to be bringing forward the next stage of development at Milby Meadows.

“The retail and nursery proposals would add another important piece to the puzzle, bringing everyday services closer to the thousands of residents that will call Milby Meadows home.”

Warwickshire Property & Development Group was founded by Warwickshire County Council.

Councillor James Crocker, the local authority’s deputy leader and portfolio holder for finance and property, added: “This development promises to create a strong community with local employment opportunities.

“The childcare facilities will create binds within the community, bring on the development of children and offer parents and carers the opportunity to pursue employment.”
