Advisory firm expands footprint with fifth office
A fast-growing professional services firm has expanded into Herefordshire with the opening of its fifth office and appointment of an experienced local team.
CY Group, which recently rebranded from Currie Young, has opened a base at Hereford’s Rural Enterprise Centre to serve its growing client base across the region.
The Stoke-on-Trent-headquartered firm provides insolvency and restructuring, advisory, commercial funding and consultancy services.
Experienced industry professional Louise Hookham joins as director at the new office alongside insolvency administrators Emilia Riches, Alina Radley and Lily Harkins.
Having worked together for several years, the team brings established professional relationships and experience advising businesses across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The expansion will allow CY Group to capitalise on growing market opportunities while strengthening its focus on providing senior-level expertise and commercially focused advice.
Justin Brown, director of CY Group, said: “This isn’t growth for growth's sake.
“Every decision we make must improve what we can offer clients and strengthen the relationships we’ve built.
“Launching in Herefordshire is a major milestone for our business and gives us an immediate presence in the town and nearby areas, including clients in Worcestershire.”
Justin added: “Louise and the team have an excellent reputation, know their local market exceptionally well and share the same values that matter to us, which focuses on being approachable, commercial and focused on doing the right thing for business owners.”
Louise added: “Relationships are so important in our profession and we’ve spent years building trusted relationships with business owners, accountants, solicitors and lenders across Herefordshire.
“What attracted us to CY Group is its ambition and the genuine commitment to maintaining a personal, relationship-led approach.
“The culture felt like a natural fit from the very start.
“We’ll continue to be the same experienced and accessible team that local businesses know, now backed by the wider expertise and capabilities of the group.
“It’s an exciting opportunity and one we’re all looking forward to.”
The opening follows the firm’s rebrand in July, reflecting its ambition to create a broader advisory business supporting owners throughout the business lifecycle, from growth and funding to restructuring and recovery.
CY Group also operates offices in Romsley, Lichfield and Manchester.
Its expansion has been accompanied by the appointment of Jim Goudie as insolvency manager for the West Midlands.
The firm has also handled several notable insolvencies this year, including the administration of Focus Label Machineryand sale of fish wholesaler NDI Trading.
Justin added: “Our ‘USP’ is that we are ‘boutique by choice’.
“Many of us have worked at the large corporates and decided we want to do things differently, so we’ve angled ourselves as disruptive with the rebrand.
“Future expansion will focus on a mix of organic growth and potential future mergers and acquisitions, taking the CY name into new regional areas that are missing a partner they can trust.”
