Pacifica celebrates back-to-back Gold awards
A County Durham appliance repair specialist has struck Gold for a second consecutive year in recognition of its commitment to workplace health and safety.
Pacifica, which is headquartered in Houghton-le-Spring, has retained its RoSPA Gold Award, continuing a progression that saw the company achieve Silver in 2023 before moving to Gold in 2025.
The business, described as the UK’s leading independent provider of domestic appliance repairs and extended warranties in the major domestic appliance market, carries out more than 400,000 repairs annually.
Its nationwide engineering operation is supported by specialist teams at its North East headquarters.
Health and safety measures include regular training and toolbox talks, investment in personal protective equipment, site visits and quarterly committee meetings.
Pacifica also benchmarks its performance externally through independent auditing by Achilles, where it has achieved 100 per cent compliance.
Richard Melvin, head of safety, health, environment, quality and training (SHEQT) at Pacifica, said: “Achieving our second consecutive RoSPA Gold Award is something everyone at Pacifica can be extremely proud of because it demonstrates that the standards recognised by RoSPA last year have not only been maintained, but continue to be embedded throughout the business.
“Health and safety is part of how we operate every day.
“With our engineers working in homes and communities across the country, supported by colleagues throughout the business, maintaining consistently high standards requires commitment from everyone.
“To progress from Silver to Gold and now achieve Gold for a second consecutive year is important recognition of that collective effort.
“Our priority remains ensuring our people can work safely and return home safe every day, while continuing to identify where we can improve further.”
The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards recognise organisations demonstrating strong management systems, leadership, workforce involvement and continuous improvement.
Pacifica works with manufacturers, retailers and warranty providers including Electrolux, Sony, Hisense, LG, Vestel, Howdens and Argos.
More than 75 per cent of its repairs are completed on the first visit, with parts pre-ordered for more than 85 per cent of jobs to reduce repeat journeys.
