SCALE names new communications chief
Growth-stage business platform SCALE has promoted Amy Knight to chief communications officer and director, with Amy also becoming a shareholder in the business.
She steps up from her previous role as communications director, having played a key role in SCALE’s development and founded its female-focused Women Who Scale platform.
Launched to help address the funding gap facing female founders, Women Who Scale connects women-led businesses with investors, expertise and other support through events, masterclasses and networking.
Her previous experience spans entrepreneurship, business finance, media and communications, including roles with NerdWallet UK, the National Enterprise Network and Transmit Startups.
Amy said: “Women Who Scale exists because I believe diverse entrepreneurship, leadership and investing make businesses and our economy better.
“I’ve spent years writing about it, and occasionally talking about it on screen.
“The best way I can make the case for female founders and investors is to live it.
“The SCALE platform has given me a brilliant opportunity, and I feel a sense of real responsibility to use it well.
“I’m hugely grateful to all those who’ve supported SCALE and Women Who Scale so far.”
Amy’s promotion comes as London-headquartered SCALE prepares to hold its first Manchester summit at Freight Island on November 25.
Amy is leading development of the event's on-stage programme, which will bring together founders, investors and business leaders for discussions, masterclasses and networking, alongside a live Female Founders Pitch Competition.
Sam North, chief executive of SCALE Events, added: “Amy plays a pivotal role in SCALE.
“She genuinely believes in what we’re trying to achieve and has consistently turned that belief into action.
“It feels like a natural next step for Amy to become a shareholder, and I’m really excited about what we can build together.
“We’re also stronger for having a different viewpoint around the board table – and it’s a real step forward that we’re no longer an all-male group of perspectives.”
