Financial advisory firm grows with acquisition

A financial advisory and wealth management firm has expanded with a takeover.

Shackleton has bought Argentis Group.

The national operator says the move for the company – formerly known as Hurst Point Group – has created “one of Britain’s most substantial independent financial planning firms”.

It adds the deal – approved by the Financial Conduct Authority – will mean “no changes” to client services.

Under the terms of the agreement, Argentis Wealth Management, Metis Wealth and Active Financial Partners have been rebranded as Shackleton, with Gore Brown Investment Management and Hawksmoor Investment Management retaining their names.

Andrew Fisher and Paul Feeney will continue to serve as non-executive chair and chief executive, respectively, of the combined business, with Argentis Group chief executive Andrew Westenberger joining London-based Shackleton’s executive committee.

Existing Argentis Group majority shareholder Carlyle has become a minority investor in Shackleton alongside funds managed by Lee Equity Partners.

Paul said: “When we launched Shackleton as a unifying business and brand in 2024, we committed to building a single, values-based, nationwide financial advice firm.

“The acquisition of Argentis Group marks a very significant step forward for us in pursuit of this goal.”

Shackleton was advised by Evercore and Proskauer Rose, with Argentis Group supported by Rothschild & Co and Linklaters.

The deal comes after Shackleton bought Surrey-based Arundel Wealth Management earlier this year and completed a move for Chetwood Group.
