Housebuilder plans 320-property Sage HQ estate

A housebuilder has submitted plans for a 320-property venture on a global tech firm’s ex-headquarters site.

Avant Homes North East hopes to create a Newcastle estate.

Officials say the endeavour – earmarked to stand on the footprint of accounting software firm Sage’s former 230,000sq ft Great Park base – will “transform a derelict site into a vibrant community”

They say the 24-acre estate, known as Skyline Quarter, will include two, three, four and five-bed semi-detached and detached homes, as well as one and two-bed apartments.

They add 15 per cent of properties will be built as affordable homes, as well as a public realm complete with a ‘radial park’ comprising green space and recreational areas.

Richard Hosie, Avant Homes’ regional managing director, said: “Our outline planning proposal has been carefully considered to regenerate and revitalise the former Sage headquarters site.

“Our vision is for a derelict site to be transformed into a vibrant community.

“We look forward to working with the local authority to bring forward these plans.”

Sunderland-based Avant Homes North East is part of the wider Avant Homes Group.
