Historic baker 'set to rise' with sourdough outlay
A sixth-generation baker says it is on a roll after completing a “multi-million-pound” production investment.
Jacksons of Yorkshire has upgraded its Hull base.
Officials say the outlay will enable the business to create a new sliced sourdough loaf range that will help strengthen its presence in a £430 million annual market.
They add the investment will be supported by a “six-figure marketing spend”.
Adrian Hipkiss, managing director at Jacksons of Yorkshire, whose history dates to 1851, said: “This exciting launch is testament to the months of hard work that has gone on behind the scenes.
“We are really proud of the team that has put in the time, effort and expertise needed to get this sourdough just right.
He added the sourdough range will launch in the autumn.
