Subco Engineering builds smarter project platform
Newcastle-based Subco Engineering has improved the way it delivers complex engineering projects after collaborating with the University of Sunderland through the Arrow innovation support programme.
Working across the offshore energy, oil and gas, and marine sectors, Subco developed its innovative Subco Platform, a digital portal designed to give clients, engineers and contractors complete visibility of projects from proposal through to delivery.
To support the platform's development, the business worked with Gavin Vaughan, Senior Innovation Associate at the University of Sunderland, who conducted a detailed review of the company's data and storage systems. The project helped Subco create a structured data framework that connects information across multiple systems and improves how engineering data is organised and accessed.
The collaboration has already delivered efficiency improvements for both internal teams and external contractors, while creating a foundation for future AI-driven insights and continuous improvement.
Joe Hinchliffe, Technology Director at Subco Engineering, said: "The Arrow support helped us to scope our own project and was amazing in terms of helping us get the project off the ground. The progress was fantastic and the attention to detail and quality of the report was phenomenal."
The project highlights how collaboration between businesses and universities can help accelerate innovation, improve productivity and support long-term growth.
