Taxi tech firm 'in gear for growth' with Midlands deal

A ride hire tech firm says it is primed to drive ahead after completing a takeover.

Veezu has bought Triple 20 Taxi Cars.

Bosses say the move for the West Midlands operator – which includes the Triple 20 Taxis and Brookfleet Cars brands – bolsters a “mission to strengthen local transport and connectivity”.

They add the swoop will expand Cardiff-headquartered Veezu’s presence into Dudley and Sandwell and build on an existing network across Birmingham, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Telford.

Founded in 2013, Veezu is known for an app that allows users to book, track and pay for taxi journeys.

Officials say it works with thousands of self-employed driver-partners, with its services licensed by more than 60 local authorities across England and Wales.

Family-run Brookfleet Cars was established in Blackheath in 1973 and, alongside Triple 20 Taxis, works with about 270 self-employed driver-partners.

Jon Martin, Veezu managing director, said: “Triple 20 Taxis and Brookfleet Cars are highly respected local brands with strong ties to communities across Dudley and Sandwell.

“We are delighted to welcome them into our West Midlands network.

“This next joint chapter means even better support for people’s travel needs around the clock.”
