Liverpool City Region Businesses to Come Together for Major Regional Showcase

Businesses, entrepreneurs and organisations from across the Liverpool City Region will come together this September for a regional showcase celebrating business growth, collaboration and the support helping companies across the region to develop.

Together for Business will take place at The Bluecoat in Liverpool on Wednesday, September 16th, bringing together businesses and stakeholders from Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.

Hosted by Growth Platform, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s business support service, the event will showcase the impact of UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) supported activity across the Liverpool City Region while giving businesses an opportunity to explore the support available, hear from fellow entrepreneurs and make new connections.

Entrepreneur, investor and social impact advisor Jamie Crummie, co-founder of Too Good To Go, will be among the speakers at the event, sharing insights from his entrepreneurial journey and his work supporting social impact businesses across the impact ecosystem.

Jamie co-founded Too Good To Go, which was created to tackle food waste by connecting people with businesses that have surplus food and has since grown into an international social impact company. He has gone on to work as an investor, advisor and board member with a range of social impact businesses, supporting entrepreneurs and organisations working to create positive change. His entrepreneurial career has seen him recognised by Forbes' 30 Under 30, One Young World and the Obama Foundation.

Cllr Paula Basnett, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration said: "Together for Business is about bringing the people who drive our business community together. Across the Liverpool City Region, we are fortunate to have ambitious, innovative businesses achieving great things, alongside a strong network of organisations providing the expertise, advice and opportunities that help them succeed and grow.

“This event is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements made possible through UKSPF-supported activity, while also creating the conditions for new partnerships and opportunities to emerge. I hope businesses leave having met someone new, discovered an opportunity or made a connection that can help them take their next step."

The event will be hosted by BBC broadcaster Ngunan Adamu, founder and CEO of iWoman Media Ltd and iWoman Academy CiC.

Ngunan, who is also the creator of Roots and Pride, celebrating migrant communities in the Liverpool City Region, will guide guests through the morning and lead a panel discussion exploring business growth, collaboration and the role of business support.

The programme will also feature a panel of Liverpool City Region high-growth businesses, while a Business Support Marketplace will give attendees the opportunity to meet organisations involved in delivering support across the region and find out more about programmes, advice and opportunities available to businesses.

Growth Platform will use the event to celebrate achievements from UKSPF-supported activity and look ahead to the next phase of business support across the Liverpool City Region.

Jamie Crummie, entrepreneur, investor and co-founder of Too Good To Go, said: "Building a business comes with constant learning, challenges and changes of direction, and having access to the right people and support can make an enormous difference along the way.

The event programme has been developed around six themes, which are Come Together, Discover Together, Celebrate Together, Be Inspired Together, Learn Together and Connect Together.

Together for Business takes place at The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool, on Wednesday, September 16th from 9.45am until 12.30pm.
