Marketing agency gets on board with Arriva

A marketing agency has strengthened its transport portfolio after securing a new public relations contract with one of the UK’s largest bus operators.

CWA will provide strategic out-of-hours communications support for Arriva UK Bus, covering services across the country.

The agreement is designed to provide communications support beyond traditional office hours, reflecting Arriva’s extensive network of early-morning and late-night services.

CWA will also support the operator with additional PR activity, including vehicle launches and in-hours communications cover during periods of annual leave within Arriva’s internal team.

The agency, which has been operating for more than 60 years, provides integrated PR and communications services to clients in the UK and internationally.

Its team includes experienced industry professionals and former national journalists, with transport already forming a significant part of its client portfolio.

CWA already works with open-access rail operators Lumo and Hull Trains, alongside Volvo Group and Renault Trucks.

Nicola Adams, managing director and owner at CWA, said: “We’re thrilled to secure this important partnership with Arriva.

“We look forward to providing the team with important out-of-hours communications support and other services, building on our success with a variety of clients in the transport sector.”

The contract follows CWA’s recent acquisition of RedKnows, a specialist marketing brand working with recruiters and talent teams across the UK and Europe.

CWA has also recently secured recognition at the Corporate Content Awards and CIPR Midlands Awards, including an award for best media relations campaign.

David Leatham, media and communications director at CWA, added: “We’ve already built up a fantastic relationship with the Arriva team and we’re now also supporting them with some key product launches, bringing our strategic knowledge and creative vision to support the announcements.”

Arriva operates around 4000 buses, delivering scheduled local, regional and urban services across the UK, while continuing to introduce zero-emission electric and hydrogen vehicles as part of its sustainability programme.

Cora Woodhouse, marketing and customer service director at Arriva Bus UK, added: “We were really impressed by the CWA team and their knowledge and experience in the transport sector.

“We’re already seeing the value of their support with our out of hours services and our new product launches.

“We can’t wait to see the wider impact going forward.”
