HJCE appoints technical director

Wakefield-based engineering specialist HJ Consulting Engineers (HJCE) has appointed Anthony Armitage as technical director – structures as it targets further growth across the UK.

Anthony brings more than 30 years of building and structural engineering experience to the role and will support the development and delivery of the firm’s technical strategy.

Reporting to managing director Andrew Fairburn, he will oversee new and existing projects, alongside responsibilities spanning compliance management, staff development and engineering leadership on complex design work.

He will also work with the wider director team on HJCE’s longer-term business development strategy as the company grows its workload across the commercial and industrial, telecoms, transportation, heritage and geoenvironmental sectors.

Anthony Armitage said: “The business has a firm vision and ambitious plans for national growth, which appeals. 

“I’m very much looking forward to supporting the team’s continued development, sharing knowledge and contributing to the delivery of high-profile projects across multiple sectors.”

Anthony’s appointment comes as HJCE targets revenues of more than £2.5 million over the next 12 months as part of its national expansion plans.

The consultancy is also looking to recruit additional experienced civil and structural engineers and graduates to support its growing project pipeline and drive further growth across the UK.
