Estate agency opens Whitley Bay branch

A North East estate agency has expanded its regional footprint with the opening of a new flagship branch in Whitley Bay.

Independent agency Greetham Gilbert has opened the 853sq ft office at 232 Park View, providing sales, lettings and property management services.

The branch has made a strong start, selling ten properties and taking instructions from 16 vendors within its first month.

It complements the agency’s head office in Jesmond, Newcastle, and forms part of longer-term expansion plans for the business, which was established in 2023.

The Whitley Bay operation is being led by Isabella Stewart, who brings local knowledge and industry experience to the role.

She is supported by three sales and lettings negotiators, with the expansion taking Greetham Gilbert’s overall headcount to 13.

Founders Simon and Louise Greetham and Roger Gilbert have more than 60 years of combined estate agency experience, with the move carrying personal significance alongside the opportunity to grow the business.

Simon said: “Whitley Bay is an area that has always felt like home to us – living at the coast ourselves, we know the nature of Park View is vibrant and has a strong community feel with lots of other independent businesses based here.

“There’s a real sense of character and creativity here, and it reflects the type of high-end, aspirational homes that we represent.

“Opening our new branch in Whitley Bay is a very proud moment for us.

“We have created a business that focuses on people first, whether that is sellers, buyers landlords or tenants and we are proud to be growing across the region while keeping that personal approach at the heart of everything we do.

“We already have plans to expand into other parts of the region and are excited about what the future holds.”

The agency, which won the Best Estate Agency Award at England’s Business Awards last year, uses cinematic-style property videos and editorial photography as part of its approach to marketing homes.

Greetham Gilbert is also looking to build its presence within the Whitley Bay community too, including through its sponsorship of Cullercoats FC and support for Whitley Bay Golf Club, with plans to increase its charitable and community activity.

The agency received growth support from business adviser Daniel Adamson at Robson Laidler Accountants.

Daniel added: “It’s been a pleasure to support Simon, Louise and Roger throughout their growth journey.

“From the outset, they have had a clear vision for building a premium estate agency with exceptional customer service at its core.

“The business has grown sustainably over the past three years, making a strong profit in its first year and continuing to achieve impressive year-on-year growth.

“The opening of the Whitley Bay branch is a significant milestone and demonstrates the value of careful planning, investing in the right people and maintaining a clear long-term strategy.

“We look forward to continuing to support Greetham Gilbert as they expand further across the North East.”
