College expands with £1.5 million centre upgrade

An education provider has bolstered its offer with a £1.5 million investment.

Middlesbrough College has expanded engineering and advanced manufacturing training space at its TTE Centre.

Bosses say the work has added six classrooms on a new mezzanine level, allowing the organisation to enrol up to 1000 learners across the centre.

Jonathan Inglesfield, assistant principal for construction, engineering and TTE at Middlesbrough College, said: “This investment represents an important next step in our ambitions for TTE, significantly enhancing our academic environment and ensuring the college continues to meet the evolving needs of learners. 

“It also demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in facilities that support skills development, create opportunities and respond to the needs of businesses across the region.”

Morgan Sindall Construction completed work on the mezzanine – its third project for the college – and additionally donated £2500 towards new manufacturing equipment. 

James Garnett, Morgan Sindall Construction operations director, added: “The completion of our third project with the college is a proud milestone. 

“It reflects the strength of our longstanding partnership, built on trust, collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality environments that support education and create lasting value for students, staff and the wider community.”

Middlesbrough College’s campus supports more than 12,000 students, including 2200 apprentices.
