Anstey Horne opens Newcastle office

A built environment consultancy has expanded into Newcastle as part of continued investment in its fire engineering capabilities.

Anstey Horne has opened a new regional office in the city, creating a base for a four-strong fire engineering team and giving clients across the North East direct access to its multidisciplinary services.

The expansion follows the appointment of Charles Betts as senior director and includes four recruits from Stantec.

Luke Jagger joins as director of fire engineering and will lead the Newcastle office, alongside associate director Matthew Lawson and principal fire engineers Shibil Muhammed and Abhilash Viswamani.

Luke previously led Stantec’s fire engineering team in the North East, having started his career at Warringtonfire, while Matthew brings experience across the aviation, manufacturing and fast-moving consumer goods sectors.

Luke said: “Matthew and I knew we wanted to continue working together and we feel Anstey Horne is a business where we can have a real impact. 

“It has the right culture, with a strong focus on collaboration and trust, with people empowered to make a positive contribution.

“The North East is a fantastic place to work and there is significant investment taking place across the region. 

“Yet while we are seeing the development of increasingly complex projects such as data centres and battery energy storage systems, there are relatively few fire engineers locally with experience of larger schemes.

“Establishing an office in Newcastle gives us the opportunity to bring that expertise closer to clients, while building a team that can respond to what the market needs and continue developing a high quality fire engineering service.”

The team will support development projects and design-stage fire engineering, complementing Anstey Horne’s existing expertise in fire risk management, specialist surveying, compliance and building safety.

The Newcastle launch forms part of wider investment in the consultancy’s fire engineering offer and extends its regional presence across the UK.
