Creative studio Wander walks tall with investment
A creative firm is eyeing expansion after securing “milestone” financial support.
Wander Films has been backed by S4C Digital Media.
Bosses say the funding – described as a minority investment – will support moves to grow across content marketing, branded entertainment, digital content and television.
They add it will see S4C become a strategic partner and support “further growth in Wales over the coming years”.
The backing comes after Middlesbrough-headquartered national operator Wander was selected for Channel 4’s Emerging Indie Fund and took part in the Channel 4 Business Boost programme and the BBC’s Digital Accelerator.
Founded by Chloë Clover and Lou Tonner, the studio – which also has a London base – works with organisations including North East-founded baker Greggs, KPMG and the British Library, and broadcasters such as the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Chloë, chief executive, said: “We’ve built by focusing on making content people want to watch, not just what brands think they need to make.
“The lines between brand, platform and broadcast have blurred, and that’s where we operate best.
“This investment gives us the backing to push further into that space and keep building something really exciting.”
Geraint Evans, chief executive of Welsh public service broadcaster S4C, added: “Wander represents a new kind of content studio that understands how audiences engage today.
“Its ability to produce audience-first content across marketing, social media, digital platforms and broadcast makes it an exciting company to support.”
