Clarity Plastics looks to mould greener future

A West Midlands manufacturer is moulding a greener future after investment in energy-saving technology and processes helped it secure a recognised environmental standard.

Clarity Plastics has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation across its Birmingham and Telford factories just four months after registering its interest in the standard.

The injection moulding specialist, formed in 2025 following the acquisitions of Barkley Plastics and LVS, was praised during audits for procedures designed to reduce its carbon footprint and increase recycling.

Its environmental measures include the installation of solar panels and investment in more energy-efficient processes.

Employing more than 100 people, Clarity supplies injection moulded products to customers across the automotive, construction, electronics, retail and medical sectors.

The business operates 50 moulding machines and has recently invested £500,000 in a 1500-tonne Bole machine at its Birmingham factory, expanding its capacity beyond 800 tonnes for the first time.

Further investment is being made at its Telford site in assembly and testing equipment, including hot plate welding, leak-testing and ultrasonic welding systems.

Bosses say the expanded capabilities are helping the company secure new work while offering customers a more complete manufacturing service, from injection moulding through to assembled and tested finished components.

Kevin Robinson, managing director of Clarity Plastics, said: “Achieving ISO 14001 accreditation across both our Birmingham and Telford sites is an important milestone for the business.

“It demonstrates our continued investment in responsible, efficient manufacturing and gives our customers further confidence that environmental performance is embedded within the way we operate.

“The ISO 14001 accreditation has already led to a raft of new orders, as well as giving existing customers confidence that they are working with a supplier that is committed to minimising its impact on the environment.”
