Egis appoints environmental technical director

Global consulting and engineering firm Egis has appointed Jamie Gleave as senior environmental impact assessment technical director for the UK.

Jamie brings more than 25 years of experience across environmental impact assessment (EIA), landscape and visual impact assessment, environmental management and town planning.

He joins from AECOM, where he was EIA technical director and led its global EIA technical excellence practice.

A double-chartered environmental professional, Jamie has worked across the UK’s energy, transport and water infrastructure sectors, including major road, nuclear, water and electricity transmission projects.

In his new role, he will support Egis teams across transport, cities and sustainable infrastructure, working alongside UK and Ireland head of environment Afshan Rasheed to further develop the firm’s environmental capabilities.

Jamie said: “Egis is at an exciting point in its UK growth, combining the scale of a global business with a UK team that is agile enough to shape how projects are delivered.

“That combination is rare.

“What attracted me to the role is how sustainability is genuinely built into the firm’s project approach, rather than being an afterthought.

“I’m excited to work with sector teams across Egis to leverage that strength and develop a more joined-up service for clients.”

Jamie’s appointment adds further senior EIA expertise as Egis continues to grow its UK environment team and support clients navigating increasingly complex planning, consenting and infrastructure delivery requirements.

He will also help clients prepare for the planned transition from EIA to Environmental Outcomes Reports in England.

Afshan Rasheed, head of environment for Egis in the UK, added: “Jamie’s experience across major infrastructure schemes, DCO and EIA quality standards will be a real asset to our clients and our growing environment team.

“His technical leadership comes at a time when consenting is becoming more complex, and clients need clear, practical advice from people who understand both the assessment process and can offer pragmatic proportionate advice.”
