Datamaran appoints commercial director
AI-powered risk and governance software provider Datamaran has appointed Marlies Gevaert as commercial director as it develops a more customer-focused operating model.
Based at the company’s Valencia office, Marlies will lead one of two newly formed go-to-market teams, working alongside its customer success, enablement and business development functions.
She brings more than 16 years of experience spanning sustainability, regulation, policy and commercial strategy.
Marlies joins from sustainability technology business Greenomy, now part of Position Green, where she spent more than four years and most recently served as managing director for the Benelux market.
She previously spent almost six years at e-invoicing and VAT compliance software provider EDICOM, where she established and grew its first Benelux commercial team and worked with Fortune 500 clients.
Earlier in her career, Marlies held policy roles in the European Parliament and with the Flemish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She said: “I’ve spent my career helping businesses see ESG and regulatory compliance not as a burden, but as a source of real business value, and Datamaran’s AI-powered approach to governance is a natural extension of that mission.
“The regulatory landscape our customers operate in keeps evolving, and companies need partners who can move fast with them.
“I’m looking forward to building that here.”
Marlies’ arrival comes as Datamaran reorganises its go-to-market operations around customer segments, with the new structure designed to sharpen its focus on areas of growth.
Marjella Lecourt-Alma, chief executive and co-founder at Datamaran, added: “Marlies has spent her career on both sides of the table, inside EU policymaking and inside the commercial engines that turn regulation into business value.
“That combination is exactly what our customers need right now: someone who understands the pressure they’re under and knows how to build a team around solving it.
“As we move to a segment-led pod structure, Marlies is precisely the kind of commercial leader we want driving that segment forward.”
