Gul-e appoints commercial director

EV infrastructure business Gul-e has appointed Shayne Rees as director to support the national expansion of its cross-pavement charging solution.

Shayne brings almost two decades of energy sector experience and will lead the council-owned company’s commercial growth across local authorities and housing associations.

He joins after serving as senior partnership consultant and head of marketing for char.gy and previously held the role of head of sales and marketing at Shell-owned ubitricity.

Shayne also spent 18 years with EDF Energy, where his roles covered marketing, communications and commercial strategy.

In his new role, he will draw on his experience of public-sector policy, local government and clean-tech deployment to expand Gul-e’s presence across the UK.

Shayne said: “I am incredibly excited to join Gul-e, a company born from local government innovation that puts community social outcomes and long-term structural durability ahead of cheap, short-term fixes.

“Our technology conforms completely to the unique infrastructure realities of our public-sector and housing partners, and I look forward to working alongside registered providers nationwide to unlock affordable charging for millions of UK homes.”

The company’s cross-pavement channels enable households without private driveways to connect electric vehicles to home charging while avoiding cables running across pavements.

Gul-e forms part of ODS Group, which is wholly owned by Oxford City Council, with profits reinvested into local public services.
